There was a time
When I threw caution
To the wind

Turned the throttle
Just to see how fast
I could go

Nothing could bring
Me down

Nothing could break
My spirit

Somehow I knew
Almost like a hidden secret
That I could do anything

And I did
Accomplished
Succeeded
Won

And all that time
You were there
You believed in me
When I doubted

Because I was
Young and foolish
This world was mine
Was ours

And we built
And we created
And we nurtured
And we worried

Because at some
Point it wasn't just
You and me
Anymore

There was more
And I could no longer
Take those chances
There was too much to lose

Or so I thought...

So I hung on
Did what was expected
Gave completely
Forgot my self

And that was
The real loss

So I hit the rewind button
And the tape jammed
And I watched it tear
Watched the small reel spin faster

And I realized
I could never turn it back
I could never relive those mistakes

So I pressed stop
And watched it all
Grind to a halt

I removed the tape
Placed it in the back pocket
Of my worn jeans

Put on my helmet
Flipped the visor closed
Revved the engine
As a smile formed
As a dream emerged
As I remembered...

There was a time
